Why choose a turboprop (ATR 72) rather than a scooping seaplane?
A turboprop such as the ATR 72 offers greater safety, the ability to fly at night and under instrument flight rules (IFR), and the use of the existing airport network — constraints a scooping seaplane cannot overcome.
Can the aircraft operate outside the fire season?
Yes. Thanks to its multi-role configuration and retained cargo door, the KEPPLAIR 72 stays operational year-round for cargo or medical evacuation missions, outside the fire season.
What is the deployment timeline?
Entry into service of the first aircraft is targeted for 2027, following the flight tests currently underway in 2025-2026.
